10. HORIZON ZERO DAWN

Horizon Zero Dawn is an incredibly cool action RPG with a very unique concept. In this game, you control Aloy who must fight through a land overrun by robot dinosaurs and creatures to uncover her past. Fighting robot dinosaurs is definitely one of the coolest aspects of this game, and it was actually executed quite well.
As Aloy, you use a range of traditional weapons such as spears and bows, but also various traps to take out enemies. The graphics of the game are amazing and one of the main features of the game. In addition to the visuals, the story was also fantastic.
Upon release, Horizon Zero Dawn was raved about. Aloy is a deep character with great voice acting and great characterization, and the world is diverse and beautiful. Some traces were removed due to issues with the dialogue and its melee combat, but there wasn't enough to knock the game out of the debates as one of the best video games of all time.
9. CRASH BANDICOOT

Crash Bandicoot is yet another series that holds a special place in people's hearts. As such, it makes sense to include the game that started the madness, the original eponymous Crash Bandicoot. It is a fluffy platformer that attracted millions to play it.
As Crash Bandicoot, the player must stop Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nitrus Brio's plans to rule the world, while saving his girlfriend Tawna. You have to jump or spin enemies to defeat them while moving over the obstacles in your way.
Since it spawned an entire franchise, this game deserves a lot of recognition. But as a stand-alone it also works because of the fun, colorful graphics, unique adventure and good animations. Goofy Crash is a beloved character and his debut game is a true classic.
8. SPORE

Video games give us a lot of great experiences, but Spore is a very unique game. This real-time strategy game made players the creator of a new species of creature. It starts very small, essentially a cell, but progresses through various stages of evolution.
The player can control everything from his creations. They control appearance as they evolve, how they interact with other species, and how they form a society. There's a lot going on with the creatures in Spore, and in the end it's crazy to see how far they've come.
Although there are several stages, some of the earlier ones are short. But that doesn't take away from the sheer amount of content in this game to enjoy. It has been highly praised by critics for its replayability and versatile options for players.
7. MONSTER HUNTER WORLD

Monster Hunter World is a breathtaking, heartwarming experience. In this game, the player takes on the role of a hunter who has to fight, capture and kill huge creatures on the island of Astera. The game progression is story-driven, but is also supported by a round of killing monsters to upgrade your equipment to fight stronger ones.
Players can play solo or as a group, but crucially, having one existing doesn't hinder either experience. This makes it fun for everyone. The draw of this game is the epic monster battles, each with their own mechanics that need to be learned. If not, the hunter is in a dangerous situation.
Critics praised the game for appealing to old Monster Hunter players and new ones alike. The visuals are amazing and the monsters are well designed. Finally, the community involved in this game is truly amazing, making it quite an enjoyable multiplayer experience.
6. DEAD SPACE

We've already covered Dead Space 2, but now it's time to pay homage to the original Dead Space. From there, Isaac Clarke's horrifying journey begins inside the USG Ishimura, where the Necromorph outbreak begins. This 3rd person survival horror game was definitely the source of many nightmares.
This game is the most notable of the horror aspects done well. It has the perfect setting for such a story, and the story itself is something that deserves recognition. From start to finish, this game is sure to keep the player on their toes.
This exhilarating sense of terror was mostly popular with critics. It appears in several best video games of all time lists for the aforementioned reasons, as well as fantastic graphics, especially for such a graphic game.
5. FALLOUT: THE NEW VEGAS

The Fallout franchise is another massive entity in the video game industry, and while they all have their merits, Fallout: New Vegas stands atop it. Here you play as a Courier in the post-apocalyptic American West. You're almost killed trying to deliver a Platinum chip, and the journey begins to focus on revenge. But ultimately, the fate of New Vegas is in your hands.
There is a huge open world to explore and many different factions and characters to meet. You can take on certain NPCs and there is an interesting weapon and gear crafting system. The story has several endings that make your actions matter.
The world is massive and graphically stunning for that time. There are bugs and those that negatively affect the experience, but they are all relatively minor compared to the great story that players have in store. Fallout: The New Vegas is a great time for Fallout fans and first-time Fallout players alike.
4. SUPER MARIO KART

Everyone knows about Mario Kart. In 1992, it got its humble beginnings with the iconic Super Mario Kart. Players can control various stapled characters from the Mario series and move around the track to collect coins and power-ups to finish the race first.
Played on the SNES, Super Mario Kart could be played alone or with friends. It was wildly popular upon release and has inspired a whole series of sequels. It not only inspired these sequels, but also the kart racer genre, showing its massive legacy.
Critics praised the graphics as the best the SNES had ever had, and for its fantastic gameplay. Some say that not even the sequel has been able to replicate the greatness of this game. This is certainly up for debate, but regardless, it's abundantly clear that Super Mario Kart is a star mode game with a huge legacy.

3. FINAL FANTASY VIII

Final Fantasy VIII is the eighth installment of the Final Fantasy franchise and one of the best. In this game, the story follows a group of mercenaries led by Squall Leonhart in a fantasy, Sci-Fi world. Their goal is to defeat Ultimec, a sorcery from the future that wants to compress time.
During the game, a relationship develops between Leonhart and one of the other mercenaries, Rinoa Heartlily. The narrative is very compelling and concludes in a satisfying way. Finally, the gameplay is complex and the battle system has a few different mechanics that make it interesting.
Some consider the game a masterpiece. It had some amazing cinematic scenes and an incredible story. It has numerous memorable moments and characters that cement it as one of the greatest video games of all time.
2. STAR FOX 64

Star Fox 64 is an influential game that was released on the N64. It's a remake of the original Star Fox, but vastly improves upon it. This game is a 3D scrolling game where you play as Fox McCloud. Fox is a member of Star Fox who protects the fictional Lylat system and must stop the plans of the evil scientist Andross.
The game has different game modes, but the most common is "Corridor Mode", where you control Fox's vehicle, and it's a relatively straight path of blasting enemies with lasers and dodging obstacles. This high flying adventure was really exciting.
Critics enjoyed many things about this game, namely check the controls, the boss design, the high number of high-quality voice lines, and the replayability of the multiplayer mode. Star Fox 64 is a big reason for the popularity of the Star Fox franchise and is a big game.
1. SUPER METROID

Super Metroid is the third game in the Metroid series, which along with Castlevania helped create the Metroidvania sub-genre of video games. In this game, you play as Samus Aran, who must save the infant metroid from the Space Pirate Ridley.
Set on the planet Zebes, the game has a large open world that allows for a lot of exploration. It's a 2D game, but it has a great range of moves for Samus. He also has different abilities that he can use throughout the different areas that add significantly to the gameplay.
Upon release, people were quick to give Metroid high marks. It featured state-of-the-art graphics and sound at the time and was called the best action game of all time. In addition to praise, it received several awards and was nominated for even more. Super Metroid is an iconic game that demands respect for generations to come.
